Synopsis:
Such a small parcel shouldn’t cause experienced smugglers much trouble, but this parcel is far from normal.
Lost and scared after a violent storm, Finn and his sister, Aria, take shelter on a remote island. They discover the parcel contains a relic belonging to a long forgotten people. Locked inside are powers which will change their lives, and the world, forever. As Finn realises his connection to the relic, a vision strikes him – but what does it mean? Who should they trust? And if they decide to follow their hearts rather than their orders, will they manage to deliver the relic in one piece?
Chased across the seas as they try to solve the mysteries within the parcel, the fate of this ancient people depends on them. Finn and Aria must choose between what is right and what is easy – and time is running out …

Review:
When deciding whether or not to participate on the blog tour I read the blurb to my 7 year old son. He was instantly excited, brilliant I am nurturing a future fantasy lover right there. When it arrived through my door I couldn’t wait to share it with him and we were not disappointed.
The story follows the lives of brother and sister Finn and Aria, as they realise there is more to them than they imagined. A classic fantasy set up but very well done. They are relatable to younger children, my son was certainly fully invested in their story. I personally loved the idea of the life they were living. Out on a boat, the freedom of the sea – it’s what a lot of adults dream of.
The book starts with one of the best opening prologues I think I have ever read. It’s only a page long but it’s brilliantly written and sets up the story perfectly. ‘We didn’t know it that morning, but our lives were about to become much less ordinary, and a lot more dangerous.’ The boy child was hooked.
This is faced paced writing. The plot unfolds quickly and has just the right amount of plot detail for children to follow but not become overwhelmed. Chapter lengths are short which help the book move along, but also meant my son could read a chapter without tiring or loosing interest.
Looking for action, adventure, mystery and magic? Then give this a try, it is a rare book that would appeal to a wide age range, I certainly enjoyed it myself. I know my son and I are very much looking forward to book two. Many thanks to Lexi Rees and Rachel at Rachel’s random resources for giving me a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Lexi Rees is running two competitions along side this tour so do please scroll down to find the details and enter.
Author Bio
Lexi Rees spends as much time as possible sailing and horse riding, both of which she does spectacularly badly. Attempts at writing whilst horse riding have been disastrous, so Eternal Seas was written on a boat; the storm described in the book was frighteningly real.
